Summer

Been a while since I did a canvas yesterday was just right to get out sprays, and paints and stamps and croco paste, acetate and altered glue.

The prepared canvas was sprayed starting at the top where the Glimmer mist was encouraged to drip down.   Then the bottom sprayed and then the middle with red.  A few more blasts of all colours left a nice puddle of green on the work surface the canvas was dipped into that leaving darker patches and splodges.

Next the roses and a single sunflower were stamped in black.   Gold croco spread sparingly from the top.   Interested to see how this would behave if an inked stamp was pressed into it, so the sunflower was cleaned of ink press into the moist paste stamp quickly cleaned.   While the croco was drying the the roses and sunflower were painted.   Two more sunflowers stamped onto the sides but not filled in to provide a little sense of depth.    Green croco spread up from the bottom.   Canvas set aside to dry.

Acetate cut using TH Butterfly die and coloured with gold leaf pen.   Sheets of pva glue coloured with alcohol inks cut with same die to go under the acetate.   Various parts glued together and left to dry.   Found in the acetate packet a stamped dragonfly, this was cut out and attached to the canvas.   When the croco was basically dry if not completely cracked the butterfly was stuck on.   Florist wire curled and shaped tops this canvas off.

I wonder if this is acceptable as a second entry this month to Alter it Monthly where the theme is Canvas?

this is lovely Zoe. those flowers look hand painted (very effective) and i love the colours on your background. Like you, I think building up colour in layers and not worrying about if its wasting product, gives some wonderful backgrounds filled with depth and interest. and as you say, you can still use the puddles up on the same project or on scraps of card and paper for new projects.
